ELEMENTS

Since ELEMENTS’ debut as the newest east coast dance competition backed by the Hip Hop Dance Association (HHDA) in 2009, we have successfully planned and presented two shows with sold-out audiences. Now, for the third year in a row, we are determined to make ELEMENTS the biggest dance competition the east coast has ever seen.

BATTLE OF THE BARRIOS

This past March 26, 2011 was the 10th annual Battle Of The Barrios at Rutgers University where eight Pilipino collegiate teams competed to represent the Pilipino culture by mixing cultural and modern dance together, with a hint of short skits along the way. These 8 organizations were: IFA (NYU), RAPS (Rutgers New Brunswick), PUSO (Stonybrook), Fusion (Baruch), POH (Hunter), FSA (NJIT), PARE (St. Johns University), and PASALUBONG (Bergen Community College).

FLASH - Filipino League of Seton Hall

FLASH presents our 8th Annual Dance Troupe Competition: Break Dance Not Hearts. The community’s first major Hip Hop Dance Competition since 2003!

MONSTERS OF HIP HOP

A dance convention for Hip Hop dancers with a full day of master classes, dance competition, and a world class dance showcase in the evening. This years tour features world renown choreographers such as Teresa Espinoza of the Beat Freaks, The JabbawockeeZ, Luam and many others. For a full list check out their website.

DEFINING RHYTHM

Defining Rhythm was first held in April of 2007 as a showcase of hip hop talent local to the tri-state area. This was one of the first shows to unite the west coast with the east coast, hosting Pac Modern from Long Beach, CA in NJ.
Defining Rhythm has become a staple in the urban dance community as one of the top competitions in the East Coast. Last year 20 teams from New Jersey, New York, Boston, Maryland, Washington DC, & California shared the stage to showcase and compete against the best of the best.

NYC'S ANNUAL DANCE PARADE

Sixth Annual Parade: On Saturday May 19 2012, over ten thousand dancers will showcase more than 75 ethnic and dance genres on the world stage of Broadway. Amongst beautifully crafted floats, live bands and DJs, the parade is ordered chronologically honoring the history of dance from ancient to contemporary.
Post Parade Festival: Right after the parade, Tompkins Square Park, comes alive with choreographed performances, workshops and social dance–all FREE to the public!

WORLD OF DANCE TOUR

The World of Dance Tour is the largest International Urban Dance Competition taking place in 14 major markets across the globe. With focus on the art of street dancing and today’s new aged choreography, World of Dance is the largest touring event embracing Urban Dance and Youth Lifestyle. The World’s top dancers, hundreds of participants, and thousands of spectators will partake in performance festival settings, awarding today’s top dancer’s with the most prestigious acknowledgments. The World of Dance Tour promises to deliver an unparalleled experience to both participants and spectators in effort to build the reputation as the global authority in Urban Dance and Lifestyle.

ECDC - East Coast Dance Competition

Culture Shock's annual dance showcase. This event features pre-selected professional, amateur, and collegiate hip hop dance teams from all over the east coast and abroad, performing in a full concert-format show. It is preceded by workshops during the day.

Prices for Classes:

* $35 All Day Pass for Culture Shock Dance Troupe and ECDC Cast

KOLLABORATION NY

Kollaboration New York is an annual talent competition show and movement entirely produced by Asian and Pacific Islander (API) professionals and students throughout the New York City area. We are proud to be part of the larger, nationwide Kollaboration movement which spans across twelve major cities across the US and Canada.

Kollaboration has headlined a number of celebrity performers including Far*East Movement (#1 Billboard Top 100 Singer, ‘Like a G6’), BoA (Singer, Korean Pop Star), Ed Cho (Comedian), KABA Modern (MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew), Quest Crew (MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew), Poreotics (MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew) and others.

PRIDE DANCE COMPETITION

Within the past three years, PRIDE has grown to become a huge and anticipated event for both the Rutgers University and our surrounding community, consistently selling out its venue of 740 openings. As a two-part event, PRIDE Dance Competition offers the community a Cultural pre-show, filled with showcases performed by well-known organizations displaying traditional dance, music and art. The main event on November 19th, 2011 will bring together dance crews from all over the United States in a competition to win $1000 and publicity throughout the Rutgers and dancing community. Some of these prominent dancers include the competitors of the national television dance competition, MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, Project D and our PRIDE 3: 2010 champions, E.P.I.C. Motion. We are located in one of Rutgers University’s largest and newly renovated auditoriums, the Nicholas Music Center.
